This Queen Elizabeth safari takes you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second largest national park, with plenty of wildlife, birds and primates. This park is a notable safari destination for wildlife tours, chimpanzee tracking, birding watching, and boat cruises among others.

The park also has spectacular sceneries including Crater Lakes and rolling savannah plains overlooking the snow capped Rwenzori Mountain ranges. And finally this Uganda Wildlife safari takes us the Uganda birding paradise, Lake Bunyonyi for an unforgettable birding adventure experience.

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda at Entebbe Airport

Upon arrival at the Airport, a Safari guide from Sunset Adventures will warmly welcome to Uganda and brief you about the safari oversight. You will then be transferred to your hotel where you will be briefed about you safari by the guide.

Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have your money changed on this day, and you may also have the chance to visit Kampala city, about one hour drive from Entebbe. Please note: accommodation on arrival is not inclusive but can be arranged upon request.

Day 2: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park (417 Kms)

Early in the morning, depart Kampala in the morning after breakfast and go through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside. Watch out for the Equator en-route as well as plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. Proceed to the Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for lunch. After lunch proceed for an evening game drive where you will also see the crater Lakes, after which we return to our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park

We start with an extensive early morning game drive in the Park, while pursuing the most wildlife congested tracks including the Kasenyi Track.

Expect to see; Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Bush bucks, Kobs, the rare Giant forest hogs, Hyenas and Waterbucks. Return and have breakfast at your accommodation. In the afternoon we’ll take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga channel, an experience not to miss!! You will appreciate the scores of Hippos, Buffalos, and Crocodiles close to the waterside as well as if lucky, the rare Leopard prowling. There is a variety of bird species for example Pelicans, Cormorants, egrets, herons and Jacana amongst others. We then return to our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee in Kyambura & visit Katwe crater lake

After breakfast you will head to Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Driving through a grassland area, all of a sudden you come across an amazing gorge covered with a tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura River in search of wild fast moving and elusive chimpanzees, one of man’s closest relations. The chimp population is quite mobile and viewing is unpredictable but the walk is enchanting. Alternatively go for a nature walk in Maramagambo Forest to see other primates and to visit the Blue Lake. In the afternoon take a drive to Katwe salt lake.

Once you arrive at the salt mines, marvel at the network of paths and huts that have been built across the lake to support hundreds of workers. The salt is sold to traders from across Uganda, and as far as Congo and Rwanda. This tour gives visitors a unique insight into the fascinating yet tough process of salt mining, as well as providing an alternative income for Katwe. During the tour of the lake you will see community members at work, cross the mud walkways.

Day 5: Drive to Kampala via Ishasha & Transfer Back to Entebbe/Kampala

After breakfast, transfer to Kampala via the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The south is called Ishasha, which is the home to the famous tree-climbing lions. As you drive, have your eyes peeled for more game. On arrival in the Ishasha area, we search for the famous and unique tree-climbing lions. If it is a hot day, be sure to find them atop the sycamore fig trees or the acacia trees that dominate this part of the park.

There are about 4 Prides of lions in the area numbering more than 40 in total. Look out for the males with their black mane, which is a notable attribute. Also, there are about 1000+ elephants present in the area and you normally see large numbers. There are Topi and Uganda Kob antelopes in large numbers. The drive is a fantastic opportunity to take lots of pictures.

After, you will exit the park. Travelling via the Mbarara – Kabale road, you will arrive in Mbarara in time for lunch. Nearer Kampala, you will stop-over at the Equator Crossing, where the imaginary line that divides the earth into two halves passes. Here you do fun photo shoots, and purchase your souvenir from your Ugandan safari. You will then be dropped off at Entebbe International airport in time for you to check-in for your departure flight home.
