8 Days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Tour

The Great Migration is one of the world’s most spectacular natural events, where over 2 million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles move through the Serengeti National Park and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of water and grazing grounds. Our 8-day Migration Tour will take you to the famous Serengeti National Park to follow the migrating herds. Your journey combines stunning nature and an exceptional variety of wildlife.

This 8 days Tanzania Wildebeest Migration tour is designed to increase your chance to see the great Serengeti wildebeest on their migration. The itinerary includes both the Lobo area (area north of the central Serengeti National Park) and Wagakuria area (remote northern Serengeti National Park) where the majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found from August to October.

This agricultural and fresh produce market is a melting pot of local cultures and a souvenir hunter’s paradise.

After a long day of exploring the beauty and scenic views of the Lake, you’ll now head back to your hotel of stay for overnight dinner and plan the your Day 3 of Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Tour

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

This morning’s African adventure begins with an exploratory game drive through Tanzania’s oldest and most recognized National Park, the Serengeti. This location offers the most expansive game viewing in Tanzania. From predators to prey, great herds of grazing herbivores to tactically cunning packs of carnivores, life on the plains of the Serengeti can best be defined as a complete “circle of life.”

A photographic dream unfolds before your eyes as giraffes and elephants feast on tasty shrubbery, whilst impalas, gazelles and buffalos dance carefully through the plains as to not become the latest meal for on-looking lions, cheetahs and hyenas.

Spend the day taking in the spectacle of the famous wildebeest migration. This annual migration through the Serengeti and Masai Mara is one of the safari highlights of Africa.

Non-migrating game like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah can be seen here all year round. The game viewing is very good and you can follow game for long periods without seeing other vehicles – truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti Plains. Magnificent rive line trees can be found along the river lines and bird life such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be found here.

The wildebeest migration can normally be found in the Wagakuria area from August to October depending on rainfall patterns. A long stretch of the Mara River runs through the northern Serengeti National Park and the Mara River, this provides the migration with its most difficult obstacle witnessing the frantic herds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River which is amazing.

Dinner and overnight in the Wagakuria area as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day 6: Last day in the Serengeti

This Tanzania Wildebeest Migration Tour continues as you board a privately driven vehicle, accompanied by a local tracker-guide for your visit to the overwhelming large Ngorongoro Conversation Area. The massive Olduvai Gorge or Oldupai Gorge is often referred to as “The Cradle of Mankind.” Beginning in the eastern Serengeti plains, the gorge is roughly some 48 kilometers long. Resulting from millions of years of natural erosion, this gorge boasts a steep-sided ravine that cuts and stretches its way through the Great Rift Valley along eastern Africa.
